Covid Terminology for dummies !
Bonjour World!
This morning I had a giggle with me, myself and I (all 3 are next of kin so my bubble stays Covid-proof !).
I was randomly browsing my Instagram and came across the abbreviation IRL in a post (the exact quote saying: ‘sure, most of us won’t be able to see it IRL for a while but … blablabla ….). I know URL, although don’t challenge me to explain to you what it exactly means, there is Google for that :). But at least I knew just enough to see it had no relevance whatsoever in the context of the post!
Got my brain thinking until I understood IRL means In Real Life !!!
There is nothing real in these 3 letters but the realisation that I am going to have to work hard at keeping up with all these new words, expressions, phrases that the pandemic created.
So my advice to me, myself and I as I carry on the day: “Get out of your bubble and stay open to what may come to you from the outside!”
Btw great article hereby for dummies like me who want to stay connected with the real world despite the bubbles. https://theconversation.com/coronavirus-has-led-to-an-explosion-of-new-words-and-phrases-and-that-helps-us-cope-136909
